Sustainability

If you happened to read our story, you would know that we didn’t originally plan to start a craft company. We were just two parents sick of all the nasty imported garbage that somehow passes as “kids’ craft materials” these days. We wanted something clean and responsible and American-made. We got mad when we couldn’t find it—so we made it ourselves.

Now, once you get a company up and running, and you realize all the costs of doing business, you can (in a strange way) understand the temptation to sacrifice quality, or to manufacture cheaply overseas in the interest of profitability. But for us, the entire reason we started this business was to be a different kind of craft company, one that sets a much higher standard for quality, environmental consciousness, and loyalty to the US.

To that end, we are proud to be one of very few companies who can say that we make high quality, sustainable paper crafts at a competitive price—made only with US materials, manufacturing, and labor.

Manufacturing:

• We are a woman-owned, family-run business operating out of a small, efficient manufacturing facility in Sparks, Maryland. 
• We’re committed to US materials, US manufacturing, and US employees. These are non-negotiables for us. We will never compromise our principles to save a buck. 
• We have developed a unique, near-zero-waste manufacturing process—meaning that we bring in raw material (paper), cut it and package it without generating any waste.
• While we produce thousands of products, we only yield about one bag of trash per week at the factory!

Materials:

• The premium quality card stock we use in our products is made in the USA and FSC Certified, which means it’s been responsibly sourced and made from wood that came from a certified managed forest. 
• Our bold colored papers are Green Seal certified—manufactured using processes that reduce the risk of negative environmental impact and made with chemicals that are safer for human health and the environment.
• Our brightly colored sheets are Biodegradable, and half of our colors contain a minimum of at least 30% post-consumer fiber. 
• Our paper is acid-free and lignin-free, which prevents fading and increases longevity of the paper. This is important because we make the kind of crafts you’ll want to keep.
• Our packaging is US-made, 100% recyclable, and we use just enough of it to protect the product—no more, no less. 

Design:

• Our products are designed to use as much of each sheet of paper as possible to minimize waste. The other driver for this approach is that colored papers are not recyclable, though they are biodegradable, so we look to make the smallest paper shape remnant we possibly can. We also encourage you to get creative with the remnants rather than throwing them out.
• Our products are designed to be compact, organized, and minimally packaged. They are portable and take up very little space, but we build a lot of creative potential into every pack!

We hope that when you use our crafts, you can see and feel how different they are, and know that they were made by people who really care about quality, the environment, and responsible American production.
